How Fashion Vendors Can Win at the Bifixit Trade Fair

Livestream selling rewards fashion vendors who show fit and movement, not just photos. Here's how to use your Bifixit trade fair slot well.

A photo can't show how a wrap dress sits when someone actually walks in it, or how fabric catches light under a moving arm. That gap is exactly what livestream closes, and it's part of why fashion is shaping up to be one of the strongest categories at the Bifixit National LIVE Trade Fair on 12–13 December. Buyers watching your slot check out in-stream, the way they would on TikTok Shop LIVE, without ever leaving the broadcast — so your job isn't to describe pieces, it's to show them moving on a body, in real light, styled more than one way.

Build your slot around outfits, not a rack

Don't plan your slot as a run through twenty tops. Plan it as six or seven complete looks, each one built around a piece you actually want to move. Try a top with jeans, then tucked into a skirt, then layered under a jacket — showing three ways to wear one item gives a buyer more reason to purchase than showing three different items once each. It also stretches your inventory further on camera than it does on a shelf.

Show fit across real bodies, not just the sample size

One of the biggest reasons fashion buyers hesitate online is not knowing how something will fit them specifically. If you can, show a piece on more than one body type during your slot, call out actual measurements rather than just small, medium, or large, and be upfront on camera about where a piece runs small or large. This single habit — honest fit talk, live — builds more trust in ten minutes than a week of static listings.

Use the moment, not just the item

Movement sells fabric. Turn around so viewers see how a skirt falls, walk a few steps so they see how trousers break over shoes, stretch your arms if a top has structure so viewers see whether it holds shape. These few extra seconds per item are the entire reason livestream outperforms photos for clothing, so don't rush past them to get to the next piece.

Bundle to lift order size

Because buyers are checking out without leaving the stream, this is a good moment to offer a styled bundle — the top and the skirt you just showed together, at a small combined discount — rather than only single items. Announce the bundle price on camera at the moment you're wearing the full look, while the visual is still fresh, not later in the slot.

Prepare for the questions you'll actually get

Expect a lot of sizing and fabric questions in the comments during your slot: stretch, opacity, whether it needs lining, true-to-size or not. Keep a simple size chart next to your camera so you can read exact measurements out loud instead of guessing. Answering these live, by name, is what turns a viewer scrolling past into someone who checks out mid-stream.

Registration and slot priority

Nigerian vendors with a valid CAC business registration number get priority when slots are allocated, so register early and have your CAC number ready. Vendor registration is ₦100,000 if you register before 1 November, rising to ₦150,000 after that, and it's free if you're already on an active paid Bifixit subscription plan. Early registration also gives you first pick of slot times — worth taking seriously if you want a slot in a peak-traffic window.

Your slot works twice: live, then as replay

Once your slot ends, the replay doesn't disappear — your shop and your slot replay stay live and sellable after the event, so a strong styling segment keeps selling weeks later to anyone who finds it through your shop link. Treat your slot script the same way you'd treat a piece of evergreen content: clear item call-outs, prices said out loud, and outfits that still make sense out of season context.

Use the free promotion built into going live

Every vendor go-live moment auto-posts to Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook automatically the moment you start streaming, at no extra cost to you. That's free reach on top of whatever you post yourself — worth telling your existing followers ahead of time so they know to expect it and go looking for it.
